Island Activities


Winter is wrapping up on Washington Island and I haven’t quite finished this page. So here’s a short list of activities that we enjoy:

1. Ferry Ride to the Island. Here’s a quick link to the Ferry Schedule:
2. Take the Karfi to visit Rock Island State Park, great hiking.
3. Farm Museum and Fiddler’s Green!
4. Skip a rock and take a dip at School House Beach, 1 of 5 polished rock beaches in the world!
5. Washington Island Recreational Center, a great place for the kids when the weather isn’t cooperating
6. Visit one of our museums:  Jackson Harbor Maritime Museum, Art & Nature Center or the Little Lake Museum.
7. Take a hike to Little Lake.
8. Climb the Mountain and see the incredible view of the north part of Lake Michigan, sometimes 30 miles of visibility
9. A must do: Tuesday night Burger night at Karly’s — social hub of the Island every Tuesday.
10. Get a shot of Bitters at Nelsen’s Hall
11. Rent a kayak at Bread and Water across from Mann’s Store
12. Grab a fishing pole and fish the public docks at the Ferry Dock or Jackson Harbor
13. Check out the Jackson Harbor ridges.
14. Spend the day at the Sand Dunes
15. Hunt Coffey Swamp, the Sportsman Club, the Little Marsh or the Big Marsh State Public Lands
16. Catch a ball game, Sunday afternoons
